Activities

Geghard Monastery

The Geghard Monastery is known far beyond the Ararat province. This medieval monastery was partly carved out of the surrounding rock and finished in the year 1215. The Monastery is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Garni Temple

About 6km from the camp sits the Garni Temple, a 2000-year-old pagan temple on the edge of a stunning river gorge. It's an easy day trip on foot or by bus and one of the most impressive sights in the area.

Symphony of Stones

Located not far from the Garni temple, the Symphony of Stones is a natural formation of thousands of basalt columns rising straight up from the Azat River. It looks like something out of a fairy tale and makes for a great morning or afternoon stroll.

Havuts Tar

Within the Khosrov Forest National Park lies Havuts Tar, a ruined medieval monastery perched high on a cliff above the Azat River gorge. It's a bit of a hike to get there, but the views and the sense of adventure make it one of the most rewarding trips you can do from the camp.

Azhdahak

Azhdahak is an extinct volcano and one of the highest peaks in the Gegham mountain range. The hike to the top takes you through open highland landscapes and ends at a stunning crater lake. A full day trip, but absolutely worth it for the views.
